Alex Fumero is Vice President, HBO Programming, for Home Box Office, responsible for the development and production of original alternative and comedy programming, as well as digital and non-linear programming for HBO Now and HBO Go. He joined HBO in this role in January 2016.
Fumero’s current projects include Any Given Wednesday with Bill Simmons, After the Thrones and the Untitled Jon Stewart Project for HBO Now.
Prior to joining HBO, Fumero was senior director of Programming & Development for Fusion, a joint venture between Disney/ABC Television and Univision, targeting millennials. A member of the founding launch team at Fusion, he co-created F-Comedy, a digital news satire studio. There, he was responsible for Paul F. Tompkins’ No, You Shut Up!, Mondo Media’s animated series Like, Share, Die and the national debut of The Chris Gethard Show, executive produced by Will Ferrell, Zach Galifianakis and Adam McKay and produced by Funny Or Die. Fumero has a diverse background including production, writing and performance in film, TV and theater, with his work has appeared at the Sundance Film Festival and the New York International Fringe Festival. Fumero holds a BFA in Theatre from New York University.
