Anikah McLaren is currently a Senior Vice President at Fox Searchlight. Previously, she was a Vice President of Production and Development at Universal Pictures and was an executive at NBC Universal for over ten years. During her tenure, Anikah oversaw a wide array of films, including Lone Survivor, Dracula Untold, and The Best Man Holiday. Prior to becoming a vice president, she was a junior executive at the company.
Before rising through the ranks at Universal, Anikah was the NY-based Manager of Acquisitions at Focus Features, Universal’s specialty label, where she was responsible for acquiring films for domestic and international territories. She also acted as assistant to Co-Chairman and filmmaker James Schamus.
After receiving a BA in English from The George Washington University in 1998, Anikah worked in the editorial division of St. Martin's Press and in product development at Bertlesmann’s e-commerce venture, bol.com.
Presently, Anikah is in production on MY COUSIN RACHEL and working on the release of the Sundance Grand Jury Award winning film, THE BIRTH OF A NATION, as well as overseeing several projects in development. In addition to her professional duties, she is a mentor in The Hollywood Reporter's Women In Entertainment program and a member of the Executive Circle for the AFI Director Workshop for Women.
Originally from New York, she now lives with her husband in Los Angeles.
