A Signature Conversation with President of Content and Television of Grupo Televisa

José Bastón is President of Content and Television of Grupo Televisa, the largest media company of the Spanish-speaking world and a prominent force in the international entertainment industry.

Mr. Bastón has been a part of Grupo Televisa for 25 years. He joined in 1989 as Marketing Manager for Channel 12 of Tijuana. Later, he occupied executive positions in Televisa’s key areas, such as programming, acquisitions, strategic planning and content development, till he reached the Corporate Vice Presidency of Television.

He was appointed President of Content and Television in 2008. The businesses for which he is responsible generate more than 50% of the group’s consolidated revenues and operating income.

With Mr. Bastón as President, Televisa has maintained its leadership in Mexico’s Broadcast TV market and made an efficient transition into digital convergence and the company’s internationalization. Today, Televisa is present in 80 countries around the world and produces content in five languages. Televisa’s programs are translated into 30 languages and unfold across every platform: four broadcast TV channels, 25 pay-TV signals, 44 local channels, one of the most visited web portals in Spanish, a platform for video on demand (OTT), cinema, and digital content for mobile devices and the Internet.

Mr. Bastón is also a member of the company’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee and a member of the boards of Cablevisión, SKY and Univision Communications.
